Thanko’s Pocket HDCam – Up Close
Friday, July 3rd, 2009
Late afternoon yesterday Thanko released a new HDV camera, the HDCam POMOHDV1, an HDV (not HD) camera. The difference between an HDV and HD camera is the resolution. HDV will give you a 1440×1080, and standard HD cameras are 1920×1080. The HDV pocket cam is capable of recording video in a few different formats: 1440×1080/30p at 12Mbps and 1280×720/30p video at 6Mbps in the H.264 codec. You can pick it up here for less than $175. Not bad for the size and quality.
- 32MB internal memory. (Accepts up to 32GB SDHC cards)
- HDMI out
- 2.0″ LCD screen
- PAL/NTSC
Now for the quality, take a look below at Akihabara’s test video.
