Top and bottom ten companies for customer service

facepalmUsing data from the American Consumer Satisfaction Index (ASCI), InsideCRM has cobbled together a list of the ten best and ten worst companies when it comes to customer service. There are some non-tech companies on the list, but here are the ones that pertain to people like you and me.

Among the best companies, Apple grabs the number one spot, while GE, Toyota, and Google snatch up the next three. Cox Communications, of all companies, picks up number six, while DirecTV and Samsung round out the bottom of the “good” list.

As for bad companies, AOL takes the first spot thanks to making it damn near impossible to close an account, while Best Buy comes in at number two, beating out Wal-Mart “for worst customer service in the retail sector.” Ouch.

LastMinute.com (never heard of it) slides in at number three, AT&T grabs number five, followed by SBC at number six. MCI and Circuit City take the nine and ten spots. Circuit City, likely, for its no-returns-even-if-it’s-broken policy during store closings earlier this year.

Any companies, good or bad, you’d add to this list?
