Firefox 3.6 Launched

You’ve all been waiting for it, and now Firefox 3.6 is finally here! Built on Mozilla’s Gecko 1.9.2 web rendering platform, (almost) everybody’s favorite browser has gotten a much anticipated update, and sports many improvements and add-ons for both web developers and users alike. It’s also gotten a speed boost in terms of loading times, and also has been optimized to run on small device operating systems such as Maemo. Feel free to check out a video regarding the latest features, or if you’re lazy to watch a video, notable features of 3.6 are:

  • Support for new type of theme called Personas, allowing you to change Firefox’s appearance in just one click
  • Protection from out-of-date plug-ins
  • Open, native video can be displayed in full screen and also supports poster frames
  • Improved JavaScript performance, as well as overall responsiveness and startup time
