Intel And AMD Gearing Up For 6-core Processors

Looks like we’ll be seeing some 6-core processors from both Intel and AMD sometime soon. Intel will be offering its Core i7-980X from the end of March, though you’ll need some pretty deep pockets to pay for its asking price of over $1,000. On the other side of the fence, AMD is planning to launch three 6-core processors (Thuban) under its new Phenom II X6 1000T series in May 2010. The Phenom II X6 1075T, 1055T and 1035T will all adopt the 45nm process. How will the performance of each processor match up to its competitor? It’ll be another interesting year, and we’re certainly looking forward to faster computers.
