NTT DoCoMo Working On Prototype LTE Handset

NTT DoCoMo Working On Prototype LTE Handset

It looks like LTE is going to be the next big thing in Japan, as NTT DoCoMo is planning to demonstrate a prototype cellular handset running the next-generation LTE technology at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. LTE, as most of you already know, is developed on current 3G cellular technology, and will improve data transmission by several times to at least 100Mbps. NTT DoCoMo has grand plans to launch LTE data services in Japan this year and is currently working with the big guns such as NEC, Fujitsu, and Panasonic on prototype LTE data terminals and handsets. What you will see demonstrated in Barcelona will be running on a prototype LTE chip, which was developed by the four companies. With MWC just about 2 weeks away, it seems that we won’t have to wait too long to see the fruits of this development.
