South Korea to introduce robotic teaching assistants

After going through a mere few months of trials, South Korea is ready to move ahead with robotic teaching assistants in classrooms, otherwise known as R-Learning throughout the country. The South Korean government has pledged around $8.69 million from next year onwards to expand the system to 500 preschools, with funding expected to balloon up to $36 million the year after. The system’s curriculum can be modified to adapt to the classroom, including reciting original stories. Parents are able to hook up to the robot in their child’s classroom to exchange messages and monitor their child’s progress. Will the robot use a taser to discipline the kids?
