Samsung Confirms WP7 Device Was Omnia HD, But OS Upgrades Aren't Confirmed

Do you remember the Windows Phone 7 Series device that was shown off at Mix 2010 by Microsoft? Well, it turns out that initial suspicions were true, and the device is really an Omnia HD, albeit slightly modified. The phone was apparently upgraded to a multi-touch WVGA display with a 1GHz chip powering it for the demo. It’s worth noting that the original Omnia HD had the required three buttons, but they were originally for calling, menu, and exit, while the labels were changed to Start, Search and Back during Microsoft’s presentation. That being said, there wasn’t any confirmation of the Omnia HD being able to be upgraded to Microsoft’s upcoming mobile OS, but considering that the device during the demo was a modified version of the Omnia HD, chances certainly seem slim that you’ll be able to upgrade your phone’s OS to Windows Phone 7 Series.
