If you took a quick glance at a screenshot of the Nuance T9 Trace in action, you’d be forgiven for thinking that it’s Swype, after all, they both look incredibly similar. Regardless of whether they’re similar or not, it’s certainly useful to have another player in the text entry market, and Nuance Communications has officially announced its Nuance T9 Trace touch input software. What it does is that it allows you to trace your fingers over the letters of the word that you’re trying to type, without having to trouble yourself by poking at the letters one by one. It’s certainly a method of entry that’s gaining popularity, and it will be interesting to see how many phone manufacturers eventually adopt this technology.
