Netflix Ships Discs For Wii Movie Streaming

Netflix has begun shipping discs for adopters of its Wii video streaming feature. The software was introduced about two months back, and allows owners of Nintendo’s Wii console to browse their Netflix queue and stream any movie or TV show in the company’s Watch Instantly library. You’ll need to have at least a $9 monthly subscription in order to qualify for the feature, of course, and due to the Wii’s hardware, you can only watch standard definition video, unlike the HD content available on other consoles like Microsoft’s Xbox 360. There isn’t any indication of whether the Wii will integrate Netflix in its future firmware, but that wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
