Considering that the iPad launch is just around the corner, it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that the iTunes 9.1 update should also follow suit. While there aren’t any official confirmations of the features that will be introduced in iTunes 9.1, rumors do provide some insight on what to expect. The most obvious change will apparently be the inclusion of support for eBooks, meaning the current “Audiobooks” entry in iTunes will be replaced with “Books”, which will certainly be more meaningful. Content management for portable devices such as the iPad and iPhone will apparently be changed to make things easier for users to sync their content into devices.
Aside from the eBooks, another useful possible update is the ability to auto-convert songs’ bitrates to 128 kbps AAC in order to save space and cram more songs into your device. While this is already offered for iPod shuffle users, it could be introduced to iPhone users this time.
Are you looking forward to an iTunes update, or are you worried that it will break your currently working setup?
