iPhones Tweaked To Lessen Strain On AT&T’s Network

Word is out that AT&T and Apple are working together to tweak the iPhone slightly in order to lessen the strain on AT&T’s network. Apparently AT&T CTO John Donovan and other executives popped by Apple’s campus to give some advice on wireless networking. The result is that Apple has tweaked how the iPhone communicates with AT&T’s towers, putting less load on the network for simple tasks such as finding the closest tower or checking for available messages. It wasn’t mentioned whether the changes were software or hardware based.
