Yes~! There will be Independence Day sequels, Will Smith will be all over them

Nice, another sci-fi movie story. ’tis a grand day, indeed. The story is a two-parter: one, there will be an Independence Day 2 and Independence Day 3. That’s insane enough. Two: Will Smith will be in both. Loving the creativity coming out of Hollywood these days.

Both movies will be shot back-to-back, sorta like those Matrix movies, or Lord of the Rings. No idea if Will Smith, who went on to sing such hits as “Getting Jiggy With It” and “Miami,” will reprise his role as Jive-Talking Renegade Pilot.

And no, I’m not ashamed to say that I still find the song “Miami” to be incredibly catchy. I’m listening to it right now, yes.

Roland Emmerich is reported to be directing. In addition to the original Independence Day, he also directed The Patriot, 2012, and 10,000 BC.

As if you need me to tell you this: it will probably be in 3D.
