Cloaking design creates illusion as well

Remember the specially modified Blackbird that was used by the X-Men in the comics (as well as movie)? Well, that bad boy does not only come with the latest and greatest technological innovations, one of its main strengths was the cloaking capability which kept it invisible from ordinary prying eyes, while maintaining an illusion at the same time to blend in with its surroundings. A bunch of engineering students at China’s Southeast University in Nanjing took a step in the right direction with a cloaking design that hides something while creating an illusion in its place. Dubbed “illusion media,” it can make whatever the material is covering look as though it was a totally different thing thanks to the scattering of electric fields. It will take a few years before this design can be realized though, as there is the small matter of waiting for technology to catch up with ideas.
