VIA Processors Coming To Samsung And Lenovo Netbooks?

While VIA isn’t a stranger to the netbook scene, especially since many earlier netbooks offered VIA chips, but considering the popularity of Intel’s Atom processor, it’s no surprise that VIA has had to take a backseat. Now word is going around the Samsung and Lenovo are planning to launch netbooks that will sport VIA’s new VX900 media processors sometime in June. The VX900 processor would be a great low cost solution to netbook makers, since it’s capable of handling 1080p HD video playback on low power netbooks, though the downside is that it lacks DirectX 10 support, making it unable to compete with NVIDIA’s ION. But if VIA’s targeting the budget sector, it’ll certainly be interesting to see if it helps to significantly lower netbook prices.
