Samsung NC20 Netbook HD Video Decoder Hack

Samsung NC20 Netbook HD Video Decoder Hack

Love your Samsung NC20 netbook, but disappointed that it can’t handle 720p video playback? If you’re willing to get your hands dirty, you probably could do what another NC20 owner did, which is open up the netbook and hack in a Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator into the netbook. In order to make room for the newcomer, the integrated PCI-E wireless card had to be removed, but he managed to hack a USB Wi-Fi adapter into one of the internal USB ports instead. After all that hard work, 720p video handles well, though it’s not quite able to handle 1080p videos just yet. Are you willing to void your netbook’s warranty in order to get a better video playback experience?
