
Microsoft has issued a statement that their latest update will skip installation on machines infected with the Alureon rootkit malware, so those affected will need to find help elsewhere and remove it before the patch can be applied. This is because in infected system could very well crash if the update is completely installed, hence making matters worse, and not because of Microsoft is taking the opportunity to have everyone move on to Windows 7 through a devious means such as this.
