MIT researchers come up with mechanical muscles

Who would have thought that something as natural as muscles could actually be mechanized? This was made possible thanks to researchers at MIT who used shape-memory alloys to develop a new breed of small mechanical “muscles” which are capable of changing shape when heated. These are way more efficient and possess greater torque for their weight than traditional electric motors, and measure under a millimeter thin. To see these puppies in action one day would be the dream of those in the medical realm.
