Orange Amplifiers announces computer / guitar amp combo

I can understand how you might be playing your guitar one day, then coming to the realization, “Hey! This thing just puts out electrical signal. I should be able to plug it right into my computer!’ Now your dreams can be a reality with Orange Amplifiers’ new OPC small form-factor desktop.

I’m not so sure mounting a large speaker right on your computer’s housing is a good idea, as amps can generally take a decent beating. But the hardware under the hood proves this isn’t just some piece of novelty gear.

  • 4GB DDR2 RAM
  • 500GB Hard Drive
  • Intel chips
  • Windows 7 x64 home premium
  • 8 x USB 2.0 ports
  • Wi-Fi enabled
  • Integrated GeForce 9300 graphics card (Dedicated ATI 5670 512MB card optional)

These units will ship with recording and Orange amp simulation software included, allowing you to record and playback a whole myriad of sounds. Orange has a reputation for high quality sound, and I don’t expect any less here.

Expect the OPC to be released this June. No word on a price point quite yet.
