Speed cameras in the UK will be better at nabbing traffic offenders in due time, if initial trials in Southwark, London, and Cornwall prove to be successful. Relying on the SpeedSpike system, this model will shoot the license plate of a vehicle using one camera, geotag it via GPS and then compare the speed when the same plate passes a second point. Logically speaking, should the speed between those two points be faster than the theoretical speed limit, then said vehicle owner will be slapped with a ticket.
