Motorola has decided to ditch Google’s Android location services with Skyhook Wireless instead, a company that hails from Boston, MA. This could be due to the less than accurate positioning data that plagued Google’s integrated system, making it a minus point for handset manufacturers and Android app developers. Motorola took the pro-active approach by looking to Skyhook Wireless, where their service merges with Wi-Fi hotspot triangulation, cell tower triangulation and GPS information in order to offer fast and accurate location information. Guess we can look forward to upcoming Motorola phones, eh?
