Thanko releases “Wristband Battery” for portable gadgets

Tokyo-based gadget maker Thanko is at it again. This time, the USB specialists are giving us the Wristband Battery [JP], which is what it sounds like and supposed to make life easier for fans of portable gadgets.

To be more precise, Thanko says the wristband, which houses a 1500mAh lithium-ion battery, can be used for the PSP, the Nintendo DS Lite (not the original DS), all iPods of the third generation or newer (not the iPhone), and a number of Japanese cell phones (buyers will get five different adapters). Thanko says their battery will power a DS (on the highest brightness setting) for up to 12 hours and a PSP for up to 4.5 hours.

The wristband weighs 80g and can be charged over your computer (four hours for a full charge via USB 2.0). The cable (wristband to gadget) is 24〜80 cm long.

Thanko already started selling the Wristband Battery on their Japanese website (price: $45). I’d suggest contacting import/export specialists Geek Stuff 4 U if you want to lay your hands on the device but live outside Japan.
