An upcoming firmware update for the Sonos ZonePlayer S5 speaker system will enable two of them to function in a stereo system, where each has been designated as a left and right channel. This basically allows users to listen to each on their own separately, which comes in handy for situations where you are in different rooms, or together with your partner from a single source. The new software is capable of synchronizing both S5 devices to make sure that lag is not found in its dictionary, while any changes made to the volume on either one will affect the other accordingly. Compatibility with the Sonos controller or iPod touch/iPhone app is retained, but we do know that the 3.2 release software that is due before June arrives will also include track-to-track crossfading and an improved alarm. Are you looking forward to this update?
