U.S. Cellular has just announced that they will be bringing the Samsung Acclaim R880 to the market this coming July, which ought to make your summer more interesting thanks to an Android 2.1-powered smartphone which comes with a 3.2″ touchscreen display at 320 x 480 resolution. While we don’t have any formal image of the smartphone just yet, information from the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group) points toward Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, a 3-megapixel autofocus camera with flash, a microSD memory card slot and Google Mobile Services (Maps, Search, Calendar, Gmail, YouTube, Android Market) support – all which are similar to what the Samsung Galaxy Spica as seen above carries. Basically, this could very well be the QWERTY-rized version of the Galaxy Spica. There is no word on pricing details just yet, but stay tuned as we are set to receive yet another Android phone this summer which might just see the gap between Android handsets and the iPhone widen further.
