Barnes & Noble Announces Its PubIt! Digital Publishing Platform

Self-publishing your material on Amazon has been an option to many folks for some time now, but it looks like Barnes & Noble wants to get in the game too, as it has just announced its intention to open a self-publishing portal this summer, dubbed, PubIt!. With this in place, aspiring authors are able to upload and sell their material via B&N’s website and eBookstore, and the best part is that sales won’t be limited to B&N’s Nook eReader, but almost any eReader, tablet or PC on the market should be able to access it and make purchases, offering users a pretty large distribution channel. In case you’re wondering how to publish that half-finished novel of yours, you can sign up to be notified by B&N when the invitations to this service are going out. The profit sharing deal hasn’t been detailed just yet, but hopefully it’ll be something that will be attractive to writers. How will Amazon respond to this? Let’s sit back and watch.
