It’s taken some time to arrive, but the remote online gaming service, OnLive, has finally launched, and in order to attract subscribers, the company is offering a deal for gamers who sign up between now and July 15th will receive one free year of service, after which the cost will be $4.95/month. Beta testers will also stand to receive the same subscription offer, with the bonus of a free game thrown in. Before you start thinking that it’s a free lunch, it’s worth noting that the free service only covers the subscription, and does not include the cost of games, which will range from $5 to $55. Supported games at launch include Assassin’s Creed 2, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, Mass Effect 2, NBA 2K10, DiRT 2, and more. Is this how we’ll be playing games in the future?
