Football fever (that’s soccer to us folks living Stateside) has taken over numerous continents for the better part of two weeks now, and Greendix of Taiwan aims to ride on the wave with the Solar Football. This idea is made possible thanks to a new kind of solar panel which can be custom-shaped, where the sun’s rays will be harnessed to power the ball’s built-in motion detectors and audio components that were specially designed to aid visually impaired players. These innovative panels will be equally energy efficient as standard rectangular panels, and can come in any type of color that you want. Of course, it isn’t only limited for use in sports, and it could very well open doors for new kinds of design-friendly sustainable energy homes as well as vehicles.
