ZTE X850 Android-powered phone

The ZTE X850 is the first Android-powered handset from the folks over at ZTE, where it will target the entry-level market instead of the high end side of things as with most of the recent Android phones we’ve seen to date. Despite targeting the entry-level market, the specifications that ZTE throws into the mix ain’t too shabby at all, save for the rather paltry 2.8″ 320 × 240 resolution touchscreen display, powered by a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor with 3D hardware acceleration, 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM, a 3.2-megapixel camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack and an integrated FM radio. Surprisingly enough, the ZTE X850 packs the Android 2.1 operating system, and since it supports WCDMA radio, where it will be sold by by China Unicom in where else, but China. It should retail for around $173 in that part of the world – cheap and good, eh? We would like to see an improvement in the display in future iterations though.
