MSI Wind 12 U250 netbook runs on AMD

MSI’s Wind 12 U250 netbook could very well be the only AMD-powered netbook from the Taiwanese computer manufacturer, running on an AMD Athlon II Neo 1.3GHz processor. Since it is more powerful (and logically, consumes more juice) compared to an Intel Atom processor, the runtime of the machine has been cut down to 5 hours thereabouts which ain’t too shabby when you think about it. Inside, you can take the high-powered route by throwing in up to 8GB RAM, coupled with a 320GB hard drive, an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4225 graphics chipset, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR connectivity, an HDMI port, a D-sub connector, a trio of USB 2.0 ports, a pair of audio jacks, Gigabit Ethernet, a memory card reader and a 1.3-megapixel webcam. While there is no word on pricing, expect it to fall well within the standard netbook pricing, although with a slight premium due to its more powerful processor. Gotta love the 8GB RAM ceiling which is the highest we’ve seen in netbook offerings to date.
