Dell Lawsuit Docs Reveal That It Consciously Sold Defective Computers

In what is probably bad PR for Dell, recently discovered documents from a lawsuit shows that Dell were aware of and continued to sell flawed computers. According to the report, about 12 million OptiPlex desktops between 2003 and 2005 were shipping with mainboard capacitors that Dell employees apparently knew would fail within three years. Staff were told to avoid acknowledging that the mainboards were bad, even when batches of 1,000 or more PCs failed at the same time. Word is that dell even accused a client of working the systems too hard in a tight space, which could have caused the problem, and tried to upsell more expensive systems instead of fixing or replacing affected systems.
