Reverse Vending Machine gives you cash

Most vending machines that we know of prefer to swallow your cash in exchange for a can of soda or some candy, but the Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) here clearly lives up to its name – it will take in recyclable bottles and cans while handing out cash in return. Recently introduced at the Centro Hollywood shopping mall in Adelaide, South Australia, it is clearly a positive effort where promoting recycling and the reduction of littering are concerned. All you need to do is place your empty bottles or cans at the machine’s feed unit, where a built-in camera will identify individual containers and compact them if accepted. All compacted material will be sent straight to a recycling depot, and each container will net you 10 cents in the form of a receipt which can be exchanged for currency later on by scanning it into an adjacent cash machine.

This tallies… »

Word in the street is ViewSonic's on the brink of unveil a fresh, ICS-equipped 7-inch tablet at MWC (together with everyone else). The ViewPad G70, which might be a follow-as much as that budget-friendly E70 we showed you at CES, is rumored to hold a touch heavier $350 price ticket than its sibling. While the slate's best feature might be Google's 4.0 treat , ViewSonic's… »
