Intel working to release new CPUs this year

Intel isn’t going to rest on its laurels, where the computer processor giant aims to roll out a slew of new desktop processors sometime in the third quarter of this year in order to replace outgoing models, while lowering the price point of selected CPUs to boost demand. From the middle of this month onwards, there will be three new processors launching including the six-core Core i7-970 which is priced at $885, the quad-core Core i5-760 with core frequencies of 2.8GHz and priced at $205, while the quad-core Core i5-870S that targets small form factor PCs will be going for $351. Bear in mind that the prices mentioned are in thousand-unit tray quantities. Do refer to the table above for further details, and faster processors at a lower price is always a good thing in our books.

Researchers on the University of Manitoba have managed to coach the previous RoboCup … »

It is the end of another era at NASA, although this one was perhaps more inevitable than others. Chief Information Officer Linda Cureton announced in a blog post over the weekend that the agency's last mainframe computer was shut down this month, marking an end to decades of room-filling computers. Needless to say, that last mainframe was considerably newer than that pictured above.… »
