HTC To Complete Android 2.2 Rollout By Christmas

Can’t wait to get your HTC device updated to Android 2.2 FroYo? Depending on which device you own, you might have to wait a little while. While we’ve already heard that the HTC Desire could be getting FroYo as early as August, Eric Lin, global PR and online community manager for HTC has stated that he believes the company would be done with the FroYo updates before Christmas, which gives the Taiwanese company a good five months to get everything done. Of course, that’s probably the longest period it will take, if his Christmas schedule is correct, but hopefully the update will be released sooner rather than later, especially since the Gingerbread update has been rumored to hit devices in Q1 of 2011. Eric Lin was quoted:

“It takes time to port all of our applications over to Froyo and then make sure that it is running well on each of our devices. That’s not like a one week kind of project. We need to make sure that our applications are taking advantage of the Froyo features. To make sure that they’re all running properly on the OS now that it’s a new version. And then to make sure that it’s running on our hardware as well as we expect”.
