FCC approves Verizon femtocell unit

The folks over at the FCC have approved Verizon’s Airave femtocell unit from Samsung which is tipped to be released sometime in the second quarter of the year initially, which means they’re already late. Hopefully there will be a concrete release date announced soon, since it is ready to rock and roll Stateside. Apart from the addition of 3G data, this new model ought to be able to support up to eight simultaneous connections instead of the current model’s four, which might just justify an upgrade for current owners.
