People sure are making hay out of Amazon being fresh out of Kindles! And while there\’s certainly of venture this can herald the upcoming arrival of Kindle 3, it kind of feels more likely that Amazon hit an unexpected wave of demand.
While the timing matches up with rumors of a thinner Kindle coming out this August-and while that might alright still happen-it wouldn\’t be like Amazon to roll out a new edition of their baby without some fanfare. And between the recent dramatic price drop and the $150 Woot special, it\’s easy to determine how demand will have outpaced production over the past two months.
So for now, all Kindle being temporarily out of stock means is that it\’s temporarily out of stock. Especially when Amazon\’s facing one of these strong challenge from the iPad and Nook, it\’s hard to imagine that they\’d intentionally pull back on production of their best-selling product no matter what\’s around the corner. In spite of this, we\’ll know next month if those Kindle Slim rumors will pan out in fact. [SlashGear]
