It was a sad day last month when Google announced that they might not sell the Googlephone, the Nexus One, through their website. But wait! The company\’s now offering the Nexus One as a developer phone, unlocked, for $529.
In a post on the Android Developers blog, Tim Bray delivered the excellent news that the Nexus One could be replacing the G1 as the official Google Developer Phone. Which means developers, or anyone else who\’s been anticipating the Nexus One, can order the phone for $529 through their Android developer account, and use it on any carrier.
The phone ships with Android 2.1 but will upgrade to Froyo upon booting up. So good work, Google Jawas, it\’s always nice to look a well-recognized Android polished off and up for sale again. [Android Developers via Geek]
