Rumor: A New Xbox 360 Controller With a D-Pad That Doesn’t Suck? [Rumor]

Holy Jesus, here is what I need for Christmas: A new Xbox 360 controller with a d-pad that doesn’t suck. (Like the FightPad here , but within the official controller.) Joystiq hears Microsoft’s making it happen for Christmas.

Specifically, on this controller, ” when one rotates the d-pad ninety degrees on this new controller, it’ll raise up about a quarter of an inch – a modification apparently revealed to be targeted at fighting game fans.” One possibility is that it’ll be a repackaged version of the limited edition controller for Evo Pro 2009, which had a modified d-pad.

So, uh, why didn’t they package this inside the redesigned Xbox 360? Makes it appear like it’s going to be a separate purchase, in place of a wholesale replacement of Microsoft’s current Xbox 360 controller. [ Joystiq ]
