Promising Qualcomm Mirasol Color eReader Displays Delayed to 2011 [Delays]

Promising Qualcomm Mirasol Color eReader Displays Delayed to 2011 [Delays] For all their critical acclaim, current tablets stink in direct sunlight. That’s why Pixel Qi’s ” transflective” display and similar screens are so promising. Unfortunately, the opposite serious contender in this field, Qualcomm’s Mirasol, just delayed their screen to next year.

The Mirasol displays were alleged to launch this year. Now it’s early 2011, at which era the impressive displays (seen above) will probably start shooting up in cost effective tablets and eReaders, very similar to the competing screen of note form Pixel Qi (also scheduled to launch around that time).

GigaOm’s Om Malik loved the Mirasol at this year’s Mobilize 2010 conference, and from the pics he snapped there it’s easy to peer why.

A shame that we’ve got to wait a piece longer than anticipated. [ GigaOm ]

From the sound of factors, the corporate will deliver a four stream transcoder akin to the only we saw demonstrated at CES (pictured above) in a position to dispensing video to multiple devices (phones, tablets, etc.) inside the home simultaneously. Also at the… »
