As much as we really want it, All Things Digital’s Peter Kafka says a cloud-based, streaming music option from Apple ain’t inside the cards. No less than, not tomorrow . Why? Music label execs are at nighttime in regards to the announcement too.
Kafka explains it thusly:
So unless Apple wants to cause them to go ballistic – and freak out the movie and TV studios, the parents that Steve Jobs really wants to court – it’s hard to determine Apple announcing a service without signed paperwork.
Makes sense to us, unfortunately-after their unsuccessful struggle to get content providers onboard for Apple TV rentals, we don’t see them cloudifying content as a solo operation. Sigh. [ All Things D via MacRumors ]
