Is MobileMe Going Finally Going Free? [Rumor]

Is MobileMe Going Finally Going Free? [Rumor] We’ve been looking forward to MobileMe to move free for your time now so we’re not holding our breath, but could iOS 4.2 really, finally bring a free MobileMe tier to users? MacRumors has found evidence in AppleAccounts.framework that means yes.

According to MacRumors:

The evidence comes within the sort of a new private framework often known as AppleAccounts.framework that comes with a sequence of device-specific error messages regarding free MobileMe accounts. Especially, the error messages include alerts regarding having reached ” the maximum number of free accounts” for a given device and sure devices not being ” qualified at no cost MobileMe service” .

There are other error messages restricting certain Apple IDs to be used with MobileMe Mail which implies that MobileMe isn’t going completely free but rather that certain services of MobileMe will likely be free. We’ll presumably find out once we officially get iOS 4.2. [ MacRumors ]
