The Tallest Building On this planet From the very best Resolution Satellite Everywhere [Google Maps] The Burj Khalifa -which Tom Cruise likes so much -is complete, a needle of glass surrounded by turquoise water in the course of the desert. Here’s how the complex looks, photographed by GeoEye 1 , the best resolution imaging commercial satellite.

GeoEye 1 is at an altitude of 684 kilometers over the outside of the Earth, and it’s capable of capturing details of just 16 inches long in black and white, and 64 inches in color. That’s probably myopic compared to the most recent spy satellites , but ok for the remainder of us to head all ooh and aah in Google Maps . [ New Scietist ]
