The dep. of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is seizing domains of BitTorrent sites and sites associated with counterfeit goods. They’re taking up sites without any prior complaints or notifications from the court.
It’s a bit messy because a few of the torrent sites ICE has been seizing don’t have any tracker, carry no torrents and list no copyright works unless someone searches for them-they’re search engines like google, well with a torrent slant, after all , but serps by definition. These seizures definitely raise questions about what variety of criteria the dep. of Homeland Security is using and raises a depressing cloud over similar, un-seized sites.
