There’s no word on exactly what number apps will probably be available at launch, but 90 countries may have access from day one. The apps can be organized into categories which are just like the iOS App Store : Education, Lifestyle, Games, etc. Presumably things like Graphics & Design can be given more weight, though, in an Mac OS environment.

As of the 6th, Snow Leopard users will likely be ready to download the App Store free of charge as a software update. Of course, you’ll still manage to download applications outside of Apple’s walled garden. But for those of you for whom Big Brother fears are looming , take heart that Cydia for Mac is just around the corner , too.
