New platforms mean cool new games! Crackdown 2, an extension of the well-liked Crackdown franchise for Xbox, is a WP7 tower defense game with a twist: you defend real locations using Bing Maps. It’s Microsoft synergy at its finest!
What is it?
Crackdown 2, Windows Phone 7, $3. Says Jason:
Crackdown 2: Project Sunburst is, at its essence, a tower defense game. That suggests you put up guns, grenade launchers and lasers with a view to stave off swarms of incoming enemies. C2PS is special not because it’s shoehorned into the Crackdown universe-a good game and a tolerable sequel on the Xbox 360-but because you get to play in actual locations.
Using Bing Maps, the game lets you use any satellite-mapping location-that implies your house-as your base. It’s just a small touch on top of an already-decent tower defense game, however it’s a nifty one.
Who’s it good for?
People with Windows Phone 7 phones! You guys aren’t exactly swimming in apps just yet, and that is among the many megastar titles for good reason. Also: those who want their tower defense games to be a bit of more like real life, or people that want their real life to be somewhat more like tower defense games.
Why’s it better than alternatives?
There aren’t oodles of alternatives firstly, but Crackdown’s support for Bing maps adds a pleasant OH MY GOD I’M FIGHTING TO GIVE PROTECTION TO MY OWN NEIGHBORHOOD element to the game’s action.
How could it’s even better?
Jason says the controls generally is a bit better-quickly it’s tough to choose exactly what you would like without scrolling around the map.
You can grab Crackdown 2 within the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace for $3.
