If anyone’s ever said ” QUICK jot this down,” and you went for pen and paper before your iPhone because you weren’t immediately sure where to type (I nervously default to the universal search bar), then DraftPad is for you.
What is it?
DraftPad, iPhone, Free . It’s not a note-filing app (like, say, Evernote or Simplenote) so much as a note-taking app or a scratchpad. Basically the appeal is thus: DraftPad offers a brilliant fast, no frills place to begin tapping out a note whenever it hits you. You don’t must worry about which note you’re typing in or where it’s filed-just type. Then, whenever you’ve got the thought down, which you could decide what to do with it via a number ” assists,” shortcuts that permit you send the text to an email, Tweet, various updates, other apps (like Evernote) etc. There’s a history button, too, for going back and viewing your whole notes, whether you’ve assisted them elsewhere or not.
Who’s it good for?
Those that take notes. Those who have a perhaps irrational but nevertheless identifiable aversion to the default iPhone notes app. People who have trouble understanding where to take a note on their iPhone inside the first place and those that have trouble putting those notes to take advantage of someplace else one they take ‘em.
Why’s it better than alternatives?
Even with the super-simple Simplenote, I find myself spending a number of seconds dawdling as a decide which in my meticulous hierarchy of lists is acceptable for the note I need to jot. DraftPad puts the note at first else, and then enables you to worry about what you wanna do with it. And, hey, free!
How could it’s even better?
It’s still a bit rough around the sides, and while it’s nice that there are such a lot of ” assists” available, granular ones preinstalled-” Tweet with Twitter (Safari),” ” Tweet with Twitterific,” ” Tweet with Echofon” -that it may be a little daunting finding the only you wish at the start. Also, throwing stuf like ” About” and ” Black Theme” inside the assist list is cool for simplicity’s sake, but not as cool for the sake of offering a coherent user experience.
