Rumor: BlackBerry Torch 2 May Actually Be Pretty Great [Unconfirmed]

Rumor: BlackBerry Torch 2 May Actually Be Pretty Great [Unconfirmed] The BlackBerry Torch was a sizeable disappointment, both for us and for RIM . But if the rumored specs that Boy Genius Report has unearthed hold up, it looks as though Torch 2 might actually live up to its predecessor’s hype.

While the styling looks largely unchanged-exception being the brand new silver matte finish-it’s the specs that have finally caught up. Specifically, a 1.2GHz processor, in preference to the Torch’s sputtering 600MHz CPU. Torch 2 can even rock a far improved 640×480 capacitive display in preference to the current model’s 480×360. The entire spec rundown, per BGR:

1.2GHz processor
Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
Tri-band HSPA 14.4Mbps
3.2-inch VGA 640 x 480 capacitive display
8GB built-in memory
512MB RAM
Bluetooth 2.1
GPS
NFC
5-megapixel camera with flash
Magnetometer
Accelerometer
Proximity sensor
1300 mAh battery
BlackBerry OS 6.1
OpenGL ES
14.6mm thin

Now that’s a smartphone which could hang with the gigantic dogs. Hopefully by the time it’s rumored to return out-sometime this autumn-it won’t have gotten lapped again. [ BGR ]
