Skinny Cameras Could have Grips Too [Cameras]

Skinny Cameras Could have Grips Too [Cameras] Camera grips are quite useful for one-handed camera wielding, but with regards to point and shoots, they come at the price of portability. This patent here indicates Sony found how to have their cake and eat it too.

As you can find inside the scematic, Sony took the sliding lens cover, found on a lot of their Cybershot cameras, and added a hinge mechanism, which folds into a triangular grip on one side. Sure, it doesn’t exactly scream out ERGONOMIC; but I mean it’s a degree-and-shoot and it’s better than not having one. Not only does this patent seem practical and useful, however it also appears like it can be implemented ahead of later. Do it, Sony. [ Patent via Sony Alpha Rumors via PetaPixel via CrunchGear ]
