Allegiances are being drawn and battle plans laid out because the USB 3.0 vs. Thunderbolt war truly begins. Toshiba is, for the instant a minimum of, staying friendly with the USB side, announcing updated versions of its STOR.E external HDDs, both packing Superspeed tech. At the smaller side is the ALU 2S, packing a 2.5-inch HDD internally that has as much as 1TB on platters. If you would like just a little more you would step as much as the Steel S, another external unit containing a three.5-inch HDD with as much as 2TB of storage. That one, unfortunately, would require an external power supply, while the littler ALU 2S gets by with just a USB cable. Both feature metal exteriors, increasing their usability as impromptu bludgeons, and both are slated to begin shipping before this primary quarter is thru — which should mean any time now.
Toshiba adds new external hard drive drives to its portfolio:STOR.E STEEL S and STOR.E ALU 2S as much as 2TB with USB 3.0
Neuss (Germany), 21st March 2011 – Toshiba Europe GmbH today announced STOR.E STEEL S and STOR.E ALU 2S: two external hard drive drives featuring USB 3.0 connectivity for immediate data transfers of as much as 5 Gigabits per second and high enough storage capacities to host large multimedia libraries. STOR.E STEEL S and STOR.E
ALU 2S will likely be available in the course of the first quarter of 2011 in Europe, the center East and Africa.
