Uh oh, the day has finally come. We just gathered from Joystiq (and confirmed ourselves) that the renowned Android first-gen PlayStation emulator, PSX4Droid , has been pulled from the Market. The rationale? Its author, ZodTTD , said Google informed him that it was a question of “Content Policy violation,” but as anyone would suspect, the truth that it’s taken eight months for Google to do so suggests here’s more likely to do with the upcoming launch of the Xperia Play , so that you can have its own mechanism to power the unique PlayStation’s games. Another mystery is that it seems like other emulators corresponding to SNesoid (SNES), GameBoid (Game Boy) and, mainly, FPSe (PlayStation) seem to be safe for now, which may suggest that there are other reasons behind this removal; but still, the timing suggests otherwise. At the bright side, we are able to always depend upon third-party app markets.
Update: Here’s an excellent generic statement we just received from Google regarding this matter:
“We remove apps from Android Market that violate our policies.”
