The phrase “portable TV” may conjure up images of a handheld device or luggable 5-inch CRT for many folks, nevertheless it feels like Sharp is intent on changing that perception. It’s just announced its new Freestyle Aquos portable TV — a 20-inch, WiFi-enabled LED set that comes paired with a wireless digital TV tuner so that you can roam around your private home with it. As you’ll find above, it also comes complete with a handle (which are used to hold it on a wall), and a built-in kickstand for some tabletop or countertop viewing. It even packs DLNA support so that you can access your media library although, contrary to its tablet-esque appearances, you may just reach out and touch it — you’ll must do things the old-fashioned way with a handheld remote control. There’s still no word on any plans for a North American release, but folks in Japan could be capable of pick one up of their selection of black, white or pink in early June for ¥100,000 (or roughly $1,220). Head on past the break for a video.
