Ever wish you can write on people’s walls in real life ? Behold the Cellular Wall Printer, a set of felt markers that receives messages via Facebook, Twitter, and SMS, after which transcribes them across any flat surface. Here’s the way it works: seven individually controlled servo motors push the felt pens up and all the way down to leave dots and dashes of their wake. The contraption is operated by hand, and Liat Segal, the inventor, adds that there is a timing system to make sure the printer transcribes neatly, no matter if you’re in motion. Best, perhaps, is the truth that the rig is controlled by an Android application, and uses an IOIO board to attach the electronic components to an Android device. (Our resident mobile expert Myriam Joire is pretty sure we’re a skinned Nexus One.) Try a fantastic video demonstration after the break, with a pair more on the source link.
